The “VAT’s The Problem” campaign, spearheaded by chef Tom Kerridge, is calling on the UK Government to permanently cut hospitality VAT from 20% to 10%.
The petition aims for one million signatures to support pubs, restaurants, and hotels.

Our pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, nightclubs and many more, are at the heart of our communities.
In the UK, we pay one of the highest VAT rates in Europe. 20% extra in VAT for your meal out. In France, Spain and Italy, it’s 10%. In Germany? 7%.
Our message to Government is simple. Let’s stand together to say VAT at 10% is fair for hospitality.
21JUL26 – Just under 300,000 of the million needed have signed, with fewer public houses every day that’ll become more difficult to achieve.
