The 2022 Oxford CAMRA Beer and Cider Festival.

The Oxford Beer & Cider Festival 2022 was at the Oxford Town Hall
on Thursday 20 October (3pm – 11pm) and Friday 21 October (11am – 11pm).

120 beers, 30 ciders and perries.

Our entry fee generously included a half pint glass (to keep) that was ‘liveried’ with the festival name and year, no doubt a collectors item in years to come and our first £10 worth of drinks.
Adam and I attended on the first night and spent a few hours wandering amid an amazing array of ales of the UK, What a selection!
Andrew concentrated on the session beer styles and Adam was more adventurous tasting stouts, collabs and any ‘adventurous’ brews.
Neither of us sampled any ciders both being bitter fans, but fully appreciate the need to include such at festivals. We noted some interesting names. We’re very aware, as Coeliac UK states, “Cider, wine, sherry, spirits, port and liqueurs are gluten free” and as wheat intolerance seems to us to be on the increase, cider has become an important part of a modern pubs portfolio.
The layout of the beers and ciders was such that you could wander from table to table looking for something to taste or if you preferred the alphabetically sorted tubs, by brewery, meant you could easily ‘hunt down’ a favourite ale.
I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this beer and cider extravaganza, next year!

Great fun and fascinating.
Can’t wait for next year! … but we suppose we’ll have to!
