… at North Oxfordshire Crematorium & Memorial Park, OX5 3ER, about 15 minutes by car, on
Wednesday, 12th February 2025
at 12 noon.
A well-known and highly respected as a bass player, Steve enjoyed playing gigs on the local and national jazz scene and indeed, around the world. He enjoyed residences on many cruise ships, where his knowledge of the best bars and restaurants in every port, made him the man to follow, leading to his nickname, Sherpa.
His theatre work included performing with, amongst others, Vera Lynn, Vince Hill, Keith Harris and Orville, all mega stars of their era.
Locally, we have been fortunate to have him as something of a house bassist here at the Rose and Crown Sunday jazz sessions. He always elevated the music-making with his creative and supportive playing.
Steve often spoke of playing in front of the Prince of Wales, Queen Victoria,
… and other such renowned public houses!
RIP Steve.
