… Mr. Ziauddin Yousafzai, father to Nobel Peace laureate, Malala Yousafzai, was interviewed at the Rose and Crown.

The programme is available on NETFLIX from Friday, March 9th, 2018.

Saturday, February 3rd, 2018.

Malala Yousafzai is a remarkable young lady, a Pakistani female education activist, film and television producer, and the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate at the age of 17. She is the youngest Nobel Prize laureate in history, the second Pakistani and the only Pashtun to receive a Nobel Prize

The interview mainly takes place in New York with a peek inside the life of Malala as a 20-year-old college student  studying PPE (philosophy, politics, and economics) at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.

Today David Letterman interviewed Ziauddin Yousafzai, the father of Malala, the 2014 NobelPeace Prize laureatte at the Rose and Crown, for a Netflix production.
What a morning, possibly 30 film crew, directors, the producer, the principals and all wonderful people.

The lunch special that day was requested by Mr. Letterman and was beer battered cod and chips, cooked and served by Debbie ‘in camera’. In the preceding weeks Adam and Andrew ate a lot off ‘beer-battered cod’ as Debbie honed her recipe.

David Letterman makes it a great show.

Filming at Oxford lasted for several days and yet will only be a short segway in the show.

Everywhere, but the room where the interview took place, was crammed with boxes, cameras, industrial batteries, equipment etc., we’ve never seen anything like it, exciting.

I have to re-iterate, with all those people working in such a confined space, they were without exception friendly, helpful, interested, polite and most courteous.

Unfortunately some promised post production photographs for the pub wall never materialised which meant, we felt, that the production company down let us down.

Sadly for us, it was so packed, most of us were unable to see Mr. Letterman, let alone shake a hand or share a greeting.

We will see the R&C on TV for a second or two!    Exciting.

Oh Mr. Letterman, fish is only eaten with hands from a newspaper in the street or any outside area.

Indoors, usual cutlery rules are followed.
