Recently, we learned of the death of Chris Boutcher on Friday, December 15th, 2023.
Chris was a ‘senior’ regular at the Rose and Crown after his retirement as an army major from a long and distinguished military career.
A topic of discussion one day was, if you entered ANY public house in the UK, what is the one question you could ask to which you’d receive a balanced and measured reply.
Our deliberations concluded with:  “Have you seen the Major?”
Chris gave us the opportunity to answer that question with love and affection for a true gentlemen.

January 2024 – funeral arrangements:
Christopher’s daughter, Nicki Thornycroft, née Boutcher, has forwarded the details of her father’s funeral arrangements:
DATE: Friday 9 February 2024 at 12 noon.
WHERE: South Oxfordshire Memorial Park and Crematorium Garford, Abingdon, OX13 5PA
The crematorium request that people avoid arriving earlier than 11.50.
If that’s unavoidable, Millet’s Farm Centre is a 6 minute drive away and has a cafe, farm Shop and plentiful parking. Millets Farm Centre Kingston Road Frilford Abingdon OX13 5HB
