Tony ‘TV’ Venables
TV died on June 12th at their family home in France.
Yesterday, a memorial service to commemorate his life was held at the church St. John the Baptist at Moulsford (which I think was his birthplace). TV’s family and friends gathered for worship and then interred his ashes in the grave of his mother and father a few yards from the church porch . Cluny, Andrew and Daisy, Tony and Jane’s children, all contributed beautifully to the proceedings.
Later at Aldworth, in Andrew’s spectacular double tepee, Jane with their children, gathered to recall the joy of those days when Tony and Jane, had touched our lives.
TV’s grandson, compiled and projected a film of subtitled photographs that spanned Tony’s life as a child, his marriage to Jane and their children growing up, then as a grand father! It mattered not, which part of Tony’s life you had been lucky enough to share, you felt familiar with all of them.
He was a gentleman, his smile, laughter, legendary humour, kindness, courtesy, stories, I could go on as there is plenty one could add, will NEVER be forgotten.
We were very fortunate to know him and his wonderful family and we’ll miss him greatly.
Tony Venables, 29th April 1943 – 12th June 2014
