Opposite the R&C
On Saturday 4th January, 2014 after 52 years, the Luna Caprese Italian restaurant closed its doors . Very, very sad! Read more in the Oxford Mail.
During the refurbishment to transpose the Luna into the new restaurant – “MVH at Number 4”, I was given permission to ‘rescue’ the Luna Caprese restaurant swing sign from the skip. It now hangs in the courtyard at the R&C, in memory of some AMAZING EVENINGS between 1963 and 1988 at the Luna with my parents, family and friends.
Saturday, 26th July, Jenny Iacono, wife of the late Giorgio Iacono [the Godfather of North Parade and founder of the Luna Caprese restaurant], visited the Rose and Crown and North Parade with her son Tony for the first time since the Luna closed. They enjoyed a drink on Jenny’s birthday in the sun drenched courtyard sitting next to the old Luna swing sign.
